I have to admit that Olivia Cunning has become my guilty pleasure read. I mean, I probably would not last the entire book if I read some things I read on her stuff on other books not written by her. She makes the nasty into good reading and I just love her characters.

And this book is no different. It has been some time since I have left off this series but it felt great to read about the rockstars of Sinners again. This bunch is one heck of a dirty-playing smutty hot guys! Sorry, that's the best I can come up with. 

But if you haven't read the first few books in this series, you would not understand when I say that these smutty reads are actually more about family than anything else. Sure there's romance and the hot, steamy sex and the concerts and the wild fans. But the bottomline is that, the stories in this series are full of familial connections bad, good and better. And the best family is? The Sinners members themselves. This book continues to tell that story. And OC never fails to make me fall in love with her characters all over again. And the new ones, too.


Final verdict: 8/10. Great read.

Hot Ticket by Olivia Cunning

My jaw may have hit the ground a bit too hard when I read my first Olivia Cunning, Backstage Pass. This is my third read by her...and I have since then seized to be surprised anymore by just how sinful the characters in her books can get. I woudn't have been surprised if the book incinerated by itself while I was reading it. It was that steamy. Phew!

But what kept surprising me with OC's work was that despite the many steamy scenes in them, when you take them all out, whatever's left was still a very good story to get lost in. The characters remained interesting and the stories remained intact. 

Going into this book, I didn't know what to expect of it really. Just like how he (thought) was wanting himself to be in the band, Jace kept a low profile. Unlike the other members of the band. Because he was the newest member of the group, he had the misconception that the band thought him as inferior to the rest of them. Never mind what he thought what the others would think about his unusual sexual lifestyle. Which couldn't have been farther from the truth. 

I have come to really like the guys in this series so much. Yes, they could be a bit (a bit?!?!?!) debauched in their sexual exploits but OC was able to create very great characters. They were good friends and the most unusual family of rockstars that I have had the good sense to read about. I had these ridiculous urge to giggle whenever they manage to put themselves in some funny and/or embarrassing situations. And then cry when they start dragging their skeletons out of the closet.

All in all, I was glad Jace got to find Aggie. I had a book funk whilst trying to finish this book but wanting to find out what eventually happened to the love story of these two pulled me out of that. Jace had his peculiarities but with Aggie with him, he eventually became more normal. Still a hot rockstar but sort of normal. That's hard to achieve when one was a member of the Sinners band.


Final verdict: 8/10. Great read.

I started this series because I was dying for a rockstar/rock band series and this was the first one that I came across with. I can't remember how (I probably clicked one link too many over at GoodReads) but I'm damned glad that I did.

I was surprised to have enjoyed the first book, Backstage Pass. But this one? This was a much bigger, better surprise. After all the surprises that I read on the first book (read it!), I thought that this would follow the same trend. But no! This book was deliciously romantic in a whole different way.

When I first met Sed in the first book, I thought that he was going to be my least favorite member of Sinners. The man just had too much sex with too many women...at the same time. I couldn't have had a more opposite of a first  impression from the real Sed. And that's probably why he became a more endearing character to me because he turned out to be such a great (yummylicious!) surprise.

I loved Jessica's independent streak. I have to admire her for what she did at the start--left her rockstar fiancé so she can pursue her dreams. I don't think a lot of women can or would do that. (C'mon, it's the reality of these things.) And I loved how much she had Sed--huge rockstar!--in the palm of her hands. And together they made one heck of a couple.

In the first book, I had a sense of the kind of great friendship the band had. But in this book, I have changed my opinion. These guys were a family unit. They can get rowdy, rude, and yes, lewd. But at the end of the day, they would be there for one another, no matter what. And OC has thing for almost-killing me: in the first book, a door gets slammed to Brian's magic guitar-playing hands. In this book? Gawd, you have to read the book to know what happened to Sed, Sinner's sexy rockstar vocalist. Yes, it will leave you with a big "noooooo."

Yes, there was too much sex in this book. Not that it needed it but I trully enjoyed the entire read as a whole. The characters are too real and funny and so complex that I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. But maybe I need to have a break, too, because finishing the series means saying goodbye to these beautiful men and I'm not ready to do that yet.


Final verdict: 9/10. Great read, must have.

I have not read a rockstar series yet and this was the first series that I stumbled into after thinking I wanted to start on one.

Okay, I could not stop reading this book. I loved the characters--they had so much personality that they even leapt out the pages, and I don't mean only the lead ones. This whole rock band is crazy ass hot, hot, hot! I'm a fangirl of real-life bands and just thinking of them living a little like these characters lived puts my brain in a tizzy.

I really thought Brian being able to come up with new music while he was with Myrna bordered on both amazing and ridiculous. The spaced out into his creative world, for chrissakes! There was also the fact that Myrna was a bit older than Brian...but surprisingly, that didn't put me off like it usually does. The characters and the story were well-written enough that I forgot those kind of details that are usually big deals to me.

*SPOILER* The sex! OMFG, there was so much sex, steam, and did I mention sex? Okay, this was the first time that I read a threesome scene. OMG, I couldn't even skip it. I just kept going. Oh, lawdy! And sex while having other people about? Ggg, I can't even.

But the funny thing was that, even if all that sex and steam was taken out of the book, this was still going to be a great read for me. The bottom line was that I loved the characters. The complexities of their relationship as friends and as bandmates was was just too good to read and pass up on just because you frown on a little of bit of smut. It's like reading about a family of hard-living, sex-loving individuals that I couldn't help but love. This book, despite it being Brian and Myrna's story, made a great introduction of the other characters that the rest of the series will be all about.


Final verdict: 8/10. Great read.
