Review: Four Day Fling

Four Day Fling Four Day Fling by Emma Hart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such a fun read. I mean, I have always enjoyed EH's work before but I thought that this was a bit different from the others I have already read. I have been in such a dreadful reading slump and I've been needing to find some good reads that would help me get out of it. This was the perfect pick.

I loved how the story kicked off in the morning after. This isn't usually the norm so that touch was totally refreshing. It made the storytelling more to the point and conveniently removes an already forgone situation.

However, the best part of this book was the palpable chemistry between the characters. I am a huge sports fan myself so I can just imagine how Poppy's family reacted to her bringing Adam to a family gathering, never mind that what I know of hockey are from romance novels and from watching The Mighty Ducks. Her not knowing what he does as a profession was double the fun. And let's admit it, even some of our best book heroes are stuffy! Adam was not. At all. I loved reading this man! And I'm already dreaming of printing out Poppy's slogan shirts. Yep! Poppy herself was adorable. She may not like her mother much (her entire family tried to have as little contact with the matriarch as much as possible) and yet, she showed up whenever her mother asked to meet her knowing it wasn't going to be the best of outings.

At the end, I loved how there wasn't anything forced in the story. I even got to the point where I thought this wasn't going to be a HEA. So yeah, I gave in and took a peek at the last few pages. Hey, I worried! But I loved that the transitioning was smooth and slow (slow cooking perhaps? LOL!) and natural. It made that beautiful ending such a win.

All in all a wonderful read--already recommended it to both my sisters and I shall badger them until they have read it.
